
Pindiro Nature Forest Reserve
Pindiro Nature Forest Reserve (PNFR) located in Kilwa District, Lindi Region covers an area of about 12,249ha. The reserve is the largest remaining coastal forest among the nature reserves of Tanzania. The forest serves as a habitat for white hippopotamus (hippos with albinism) that are found only in the area in Tanzania. The forest is home to a variety of bird species including the rare Ross’s turaco, as well as monkeys, antelopes, and other wildlife. Visitors can explore the forest on foot following winding trails that lead through towering trees and dense undergrowth.

How to access to Pindiro Nature Forest Reserve
The reserve is easily accessed by road from either Kilwa Masoko or Lindi Municipality via Kiranjeranje junction. The distance from Kilwa Masoko to the reserve is 143 km whereas the distance from Lindi is 100km.

The reserve houses a variety of plant species. The stone town was occupied from the 14th to 16th centuries. Songo Mnara has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the nearby stone town Kilwa Kisiwani. Mikindani is a historical coastal town located in the Mtwara-Mikindani district of the Mtwara region in Tanzania. The name comes from the Swahili word mikinda which means “young coconut trees”. Therefore, the term “Mikindani’, literally means “the place where there are young coconut trees “in old Swahili language. Mikindani is part of the city of Mtwara and is governed by the Mtwara Mikindani Municipal Council. the sites are registered as national historic. Visit Mnazi Bay-Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park
Mnazi Bay-Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park was officially established on July 1/200, under the marine parks and reserves. The park is located in the Mtwara district of southeastern Tanzania. The park stretches to the border with Mozambique and encompasses an area of about 650 sq. km. The park is renowned for its impressive biodiversity and features a diverse range of habitats such as mangroves, and rocky and sandy shorelines. Mudflats, salt pans, fringing coral reefs among others. The Park is home to nesting grounds for Green and Hawksbill turtles and a number of marine mammals have been seen in the area including migrating humpback whales and the Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin. visitors to the park have a variety of activities to participate such as fishing, boat rides, bird watching and nature walk safaris among others.
