River Rufiji which flows through the national park is among the attractions found in the national park. Nyerere national park is found in the southern part of Tanzania.

In the western part of Tanzania, another destination which can be visited for safaris is Katavi national park which is home to wildlife species such as giraffes, elephants, leopards, lions, zebras, buffalos, hyenas and many others. This national park can be accessed by flight from Dar es Salaam or Arusha.
